Stacey Abrams Nominated For Nobel Peace Prize

Voting rights activist Stacey Abrams been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. . Adams and her team played a key role in advocating for black voters to participate in the past elections. Fair Fight Action was integral in increasing Black voter turnout in Georgia this election cycle.

“Abrams, work follows in Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s footsteps in the fight for equality before the law and for civil rights. Her efforts to complete King’s work are crucial if the United States of America shall succeed in its effort to create fraternity between all its peoples and a peaceful and just society,” Lars Haltbrekken, a Socialist Party politician in Norway’s Parliament, said.

The political leader is a New York Times bestselling author. Abrams has served eleven years in the Georgia House of Representatives and seven as a Democratic Leader. The activist also serves as a lifetime member of the Council on Foreign Relations on the Subcommittee on Diversity.

The democrat began her fight against voter suppression in 2014 when she launched the New Georgia Project to get unregistered Black Georgians signed up to vote in the midterm elections that year.

In 2018 Abrams founded Fair Fight Action.

“We promote fair elections in Georgia and around the country, encourage voter participation in elections, and educate voters about elections and their voting rights. Fair Fight brings awareness to the public on election reform, advocates for election reform at all levels, and engages in other voter education programs and communications,” the company states.

The former gubernatorial candidate ran against current Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp in 2018, narrowly losing to him. Abrams and her allies have said voter suppression contributed to Kemp’s victory.

It is widely expected that Abrams will soon announce a run for Governor again.
