Pelosi Pushing To Advance Infrastructure Bill And Budget Plan Together

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi wrote a letter to her colleagues on Sunday expressing that she is looking to pass the bipartisan infrastructure bill and the $3.5 trillion budget resolution at the same time.

In the letter to her Democratic colleagues on Sunday, Pelosi said that she asked the House Rules Committee to “explore the possibility” of a rule, which governs floor debate, that moves forward the budget resolution and bipartisan infrastructure bill. Both measures passed the Senate last week.

“This will put us on a path to advance the infrastructure bill and the reconciliation bill,” the House Speaker wrote.

Pelosi’s move to pass the two bills simultaneously comes after nine Democrats told her that they wouldn’t vote for the budget resolution until the bipartisan infrastructure plan is passed in the House and becomes a law. The group of lawmakers suggests passing the bipartisan infrastructure bill first then tackling the budget resolution in a vote.

“While we appreciate the forward procedural movement on the bipartisan infrastructure agreement, our view remains consistent,” the 9 Democrats who promised to block their social gathering’s price range decision till the House passes the infrastructure invoice stated.

“We should vote first on the Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework without delay and then move to immediate consideration of the budget resolution,” the members added.

“As the President echoed after the infrastructure bill passed the Senate, we must get shovels in the ground and people to work,” the group said on Sunday.

House Speaker Pelosi wants to pass the $3.5 trillion budget resolution next week.

The bills will help repair ports, bridges, roads, and railways in the United States and fund social programs.
