Judge Orders Trump Organization To Turn Over Documents To NY Attorney General

New York Supreme Court Judge Arthur Engoron ruled that the Trump Organization must turn over documents for a property whose tax abatements were being investigated by New York Attorney General Letitia James‘ office. Judge Engoron previously ruled that the documents were privileged.

The Trump Organization’s attorney, Amy Carlin, argued that the documents were confidential. The attorney general’s office attorney, Eric Haren, argued that the documents lost privilege when the organization disclosed documents to the IRS to “gain benefit.” According to CNN, Haren said that everything was disclosed to his office except the final appraisal value. Haren also argued that the organization’s refusal to release the documents had delayed James’ investigation.

The Trump Organization has been under investigation by James’ office since 2019.
