Joseph R. Biden Sworn In As 46th President Of United States

Joseph R. Biden Jr. has been sworn in and is now officially the 46th President of the United States.

In a solemn and respectful ceremony, Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were sworn into office as former Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton looked on.

Biden started his promising speech by saying, “Democracy has prevailed,” and then went on to assure the country that America would provide a positive example to the rest of the world under his leadership as president.

“We’ll lead not merely by the example of our power, but by the power of our example,” Biden said to the American public.

He made sure to acknowledge the unprecedented times we live in and how much our country and values have been tested.

From the continuing racial injustice and the devastation of over 400,000 lives lost to the COVID-19 virus, President Biden told the people, “Folks, this is a time of testing.” But he added, “We will be judged, you and I, by how we resolve these cascading crises of our era. Will we rise to the occasion? Will we master this rare and difficult hour?”

Biden also spoke about the violent riots that took place at the very Capitol where he was sworn in today and pledged to be a “president for all Americans,” including those who did not support him. He called for the nation to come together to make a fresh start.

“I know speaking of unity can sound to some like a foolish fantasy these days. I know the forces that divide us are deep, and they are real. I also know they are not new,” the president said in his inaugural address. “Unity is the path forward,” President Biden said.
