Bill Clinton Blasts Trump as “Narcissist” in Fiery Convention Speech

Former President Bill Clinton took the stage at the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday, delivering a scathing rebuke of Donald Trump while praising Kamala Harris’s vision for America. In his twelfth convention address, the 78-year-old Clinton showed signs of aging but remained sharp in his criticisms of the former president, whom he described as a “narcissist obsessed with himself.”

“Let’s cut to the chase: The stakes are too high, and I’m too old to gild the lily,” Clinton began, noting his recent birthday. “I actually turned 78 two days ago. And I’m still not quite as old as Donald Trump.”

Clinton, known for his sharp wit, didn’t hold back as he contrasted Trump’s divisive nature with Harris’s inclusive leadership. “Trump creates chaos, and then he sort of curates it, as if it were precious art,” Clinton quipped, earning laughter from the crowd.

He drew a stark comparison between Trump and Harris, emphasizing their differing approaches to leadership. “The next time you hear him, don’t count the lies. Count the ‘I’s,'” Clinton said, pointing to Trump’s self-centered rhetoric. “When Kamala Harris is president, every day will begin with ‘you, you, you.'”

The former president also took jabs at Trump’s claims about restoring respect for America during his presidency. “I almost croaked in the first debate of this election season when President Trump said, ‘Nobody respected America anymore like they did when he was president.’ With a straight face!” Clinton exclaimed. “He cited as evidence the respect we supposedly had from the presidents of North Korea and Russia.”

Clinton’s speech was peppered with references to his advancing age, but his message remained clear: Trump is a self-serving leader who prioritizes himself over the country, while Harris represents a future of inclusivity and compassion. “When she worked at McDonald’s as a teenager,” Clinton said of Harris, “she greeted every person with a 1,000-watt smile and said, ‘How can I help you?’ Even as she rose to power, she’s still doing the same.”

Though Clinton’s standing in the party has diminished over time, the audience at the United Center listened intently as he continued to hammer away at Trump’s record, framing Harris as the candidate who can lead the country forward.

As Clinton’s convention address came to a close, he reiterated his faith in Harris’s leadership, promising that under her presidency, Americans would regain their sense of unity and shared purpose.

“Kamala Harris will fight for your freedom to live the life you want to lead,” Clinton said. “Because that’s what we want for ourselves. And that’s what we want for our neighbors.”
