President Joe Biden wants employees to receive paid leave for getting vaccinated.
“I’m calling on every employer, large and small, in every state to give employees the time off they need with pay to recover if they’re feeling under the weather after the shot,” President Biden said. “No working American should lose a single dollar from their paycheck because they choose to fulfill their patriotic duty of getting vaccinated.”
Employers with less than 500 employees can be reimbursed by the IRS for the cost of providing paid leave.
The tax credit for small- and medium-sized businesses will fully offset the cost of giving employees paid time off to get inoculated, as well as to recover from any potential side effects of vaccination, the White House said.
“Every employee should get paid leave to get a shot. Businesses should know that they can provide it without a hit to their bottom line,” the President said. “There’s no excuse for not getting it done.”
According to The Hill, more than 133 million Americans have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
