Trump Mixes Holiday Cheer With Partisan Attacks in Christmas Eve, Christmas Day Posts

President Donald Trump spent part of Christmas Eve in a festive mood, taking phone calls at his Mar-a-Lago estate from children asking about Santa Claus as the North American Aerospace Defense Command tracked his journey around the globe.

“Nice, right?” Trump told reporters after one call. “Could do this all day long.”

But the tone of the holiday shifted as the day went on. In a Christmas message later Tuesday, Trump included a sharp political attack on what he described as “Radical Left Scum,” whom he accused of seeking to undermine the country.

After midnight, Trump turned increasingly to partisan commentary, posting or reposting more than 100 messages on his Truth Social platform. Many amplified criticism of political opponents and revisited longstanding grievances, including his loss to Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election.

As Christmas Day began, Trump reposted a message urging Attorney General Pam Bondi to pursue “accountability” by prosecuting former President Barack Obama over the 2020 election. He also shared a video from Georgia state Sen. Colton Moore, a Republican candidate for Congress, who repeated the false claim that the election was stolen and called for arrests and treason charges.

No evidence has emerged of widespread fraud that would have altered the outcome of the 2020 election. Trump has nonetheless continued to dispute the results and said earlier this year that he favors appointing a special prosecutor to investigate.

With more than 11 million followers, Trump used his Truth Social feed to resurface familiar political targets. He reposted messages calling for the repeal of the Affordable Care Act, enacted under Obama. Lawmakers left Washington last week without passing legislation to prevent health insurance premiums from rising for millions of Americans next year.

Trump also shared posts criticizing California Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat widely viewed as a potential 2028 presidential contender, and another suggesting, without evidence, that former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi should be imprisoned for insider trading. Pelosi famously tore up a copy of Trump’s State of the Union address in 2020.

Several reposts targeted Somali immigrants, including Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., who was born in Somalia and became a U.S. citizen as a child. Trump reposted a video questioning Omar’s citizenship and added, “Throw her out of the U.S., Now!” The president has made repeated disparaging comments about Somali immigrants in recent weeks.

Trump also highlighted economic messaging that has drawn scrutiny as polls show voters remain concerned about the cost of living. Shortly after 1 a.m., he reposted a Fox News clip crediting his policies for a reported 4.3% annual growth rate in gross domestic product during the third quarter.

The White House did not respond to questions about whether Trump personally posted or approved the volume of messages shared overnight.

Among the reposts Trump emphasized was a video from Secretary of State Marco Rubio praising Trump’s foreign policy record and listing several diplomatic efforts the administration has cited as peace deals. Trump has said he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize, which will be awarded in 2026.

Rubio said Trump helped avert a war between India and Pakistan, a claim India has disputed, and pointed to a ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand following weeks of border clashes that left at least 86 people dead.

Rubio, who ran against Trump in the 2016 Republican primary, called him “the best president we’ve ever had.”

Trump ended the day with a post criticizing individuals he accused of associating with Jeffrey Epstein, the disgraced financier who died by suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. Trump last month signed a law requiring the Justice Department to release records related to Epstein.

“Merry Christmas to all, including the many Sleazebags who loved Jeffrey Epstein,” Trump wrote.

Blending holiday greetings with political grievance has become a familiar pattern for Trump. As president-elect last Thanksgiving, he offered well wishes to Americans while also criticizing what he called “Radical Left Lunatics.”
