Vice President Kamala Harris to Sit Down with Fox News’ Bret Baier Amid Final Campaign Push

Vice President Kamala Harris will be interviewed by Fox News anchor Bret Baier on Wednesday in Pennsylvania as part of her intensified media outreach ahead of the 2024 election. This marks her first sit-down with the network and her most significant appearance on a news outlet outside her typical ideological circles since becoming the Democratic presidential nominee.

The interview, set to air at 6 p.m. ET, will be conducted by Baier, Fox News’ chief political anchor, who is known for his more neutral stance compared to some of the network’s more conservative figures. It comes as Harris increases her media presence in the campaign’s final stretch, following criticism that she had previously avoided interviews with outlets seen as less aligned with her views.

Harris has recently participated in interviews with major networks like CNN and CBS’s 60 Minutes, as well as in more friendly environments such as ABC’s The View and Howard Stern’s radio show. The recent surge in media appearances represents a noticeable shift from her earlier campaign strategy, where she had been less visible in national interviews.

The upcoming Fox News interview also highlights Harris’ efforts to reach out to broader audiences, including more conservative-leaning voters. It follows growing pressure from both supporters and critics to engage with a wider range of media outlets.

During a campaign stop in Greenville, North Carolina, on Sunday, Harris took aim at her opponent, Republican nominee Donald Trump, criticizing him for avoiding interviews and failing to release his medical records.

“It makes you wonder: Why does his staff want him to hide away?” Harris said at the rally. “One must question: Are they afraid that people will see that he is too weak and unstable to lead America?”

Harris’ remarks came after Trump declined an interview with 60 Minutes, which Harris used as further fodder to question his transparency.

Trump, in response, took to social media on Monday, attacking both Harris and Fox News. “Fox News has grown so weak and soft on the Democrats,” Trump wrote, referencing the network’s decision to air Harris’ interview.

As the 2024 election approaches, both campaigns are ramping up their media engagements. Harris’ decision to sit down with Fox News could be seen as a calculated move to appeal to moderate voters and to showcase her willingness to engage across the political spectrum.
