Vance Family to Welcome Fourth Child as Vice President Amplifies Pro-Family Agenda

Vice President JD Vance and second lady Usha Vance announced Tuesday that they are expecting their fourth child, a boy, due later this summer.

“We’re very happy to share some exciting news. Our family is growing!” Usha Vance wrote in a social media post that included a joint statement from the couple.

“Usha and the baby are doing well, and we are all looking forward to welcoming him in late July,” the statement said.

The Vances also thanked military medical staff who care for their family, noting that the support allows them “to serve the country while enjoying a wonderful life with our children.”

JD and Usha Vance met while attending Yale Law School and were married in 2014. They have three children: Ewan, Vivek and Mirabel.

Personal News Aligns With Policy Messaging

The announcement comes as the vice president has emerged as one of the Trump administration’s most vocal advocates for boosting U.S. birth rates, frequently tying family growth to economic and social policy.

“I want more babies in the United States of America,” Vance said last year at the March for Life rally in Washington, one of his first major speeches after taking office. He argued that government policy should make it easier for families to afford raising children and framed parenthood as a national priority.

Vance is scheduled to headline the 2026 March for Life event this weekend.

White House Reaction

The pregnancy announcement follows similar news from within the administration. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt revealed in December that she is expecting her second child, due in May.

Leavitt shared the Vances’ announcement Tuesday on X, while the official White House account posted, “The most pro-family administration in history! CONGRATULATIONS.”
