Two National Guardsmen Pulled From Inauguration Security for Militia Ties

Two U.S. Army National Guard members are being removed from the security mission to secure Joe Biden‘s presidential inauguration.

A U.S. Army Official and a senior U.S. intelligence official said the two National Guard members had been found to have ties to fringe right-wing militias. No plot against Biden was found.

The FBI previously warned law enforcement officials that QAnon supporters had discussed posing as members of the National Guard to infiltrate the inauguration ceremony on Wednesday.

While the FBI report focused on the potential for members of the public to pose as guardsmen, others expressed concern that current members of the Guard might not fulfill their duties at the inauguration.

The agency has already begun to vet all of the 25,000 National Guard troops coming into Washington due to an increased fear of an insider attack or other threats from service members.
