Two Killed in Shooting at Dallas ICE Facility, FBI Probes Anti-ICE Motive

A deadly shooting at a federal immigration facility in Dallas on Wednesday left two Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainees dead and one critically injured, prompting an FBI investigation into what officials described as an act of targeted violence.

The gunman died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, authorities said. No law enforcement officers were injured.

FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed the bureau is leading the investigation and shared a photo on X showing several recovered rounds of ammunition, including one inscribed with the words “anti-ICE.”

“Rounds located near the suspected shooter contained anti-ICE messaging,” said Joe Rothrock, the FBI’s special agent in charge in Dallas.

Officials Condemn Political Rhetoric

The shooting drew swift reaction from political leaders, who condemned the attack and called for lowering the temperature of the national debate on immigration enforcement.

“Look, in America we disagree. That’s fine, that’s the democratic process,” said Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, at a press conference. “But your political opponents are not Nazis. We need to learn to work together without demonizing each other, without attacking each other.”

Vice President JD Vance echoed those sentiments in a post on X: “The obsessive attack on law enforcement, particularly ICE, must stop. I’m praying for everyone hurt in this attack and for their families.”

Rising Concerns Over Political Violence

The Dallas shooting comes just weeks after conservative activist Charlie Kirk was assassinated while speaking at a Utah college campus, an incident that has intensified national fears about politically motivated violence. President Donald Trump vowed “consequences for the radical left” in the wake of Kirk’s killing.

The attack also comes at a time when ICE is in the middle of a massive recruitment drive, with more than 150,000 applications submitted as the Trump administration aims to hire 10,000 new agents and execute a million deportations per year.

The Department of Homeland Security said the surviving victim of the Dallas attack remains in critical condition, and investigators are working to determine the shooter’s motive.
