Trump Responds to Explosive Report Claiming His Team Accidentally Texted an Atlantic Reporter Secret War Plans

The Atlantic dropped a jaw-dropping report claiming top Trump-era officials accidentally included a journalist in a Signal group chat where they discussed classified military actions, including a strike on Yemen’s Houthi rebels.

The piece, written by Atlantic editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg, alleges that Trump’s presidency, national security aides unknowingly added him to a private chat where they openly strategized U.S. military moves. The conversation reportedly involved high-profile figures like VP JD Vance, Pete Hegseth, and Michael Waltz, as well as John Ratcliffe.

Now,  Trump is responding, and he says he knows nothing about it.

During a recent press gaggle, a reporter asked Trump directly:

“Your reaction to the story, The Atlantic, that said that some of your top accounting officials and aides have been discussing very sensitive material through Signal and included an Atlantic reporter for that. What is your response to that?”

Trump fired back:

“I don’t know anything about it. I’m not a big fan of The Atlantic. To me, it’s a magazine that’s going out of business. I think it’s not much of a magazine, but I know nothing about it.”

When pressed further, the reporter clarified that the alleged chats involved war planning around strikes on the Houthi militants. Trump brushed it off:

“The Houthis? You mean the attack on the Houthis? Well, it couldn’t have been very effective because the attack was very effective, I can tell you that. I don’t know anything about it. You’re telling me about it for the first time.”

What Was in the Chats?

Screenshots show messages between officials coordinating military messaging, timing, and international impact. JD Vance wrote, “If you think we should do it, let’s go… I just hate bailing Europe out again.” Pete Hegseth chimed in, calling European freeloading “pathetic” and backing the urgency of a strike.

More messages referenced minimizing risk to Saudi oil facilities and emphasized that the U.S. should seek economic return from Europe and Egypt for securing global shipping lanes.

The kicker? The entire conversation happened in a group chat titled “Houthi PC small group” and Goldberg, the Atlantic editor, was reportedly in it the whole time.

Though Trump denies any knowledge, the story raises serious questions about information security and coordination inside his administration.

Whether the inclusion of a journalist was truly accidental or a colossal lapse in judgment, the screenshots are real and the implications could ripple for weeks to come.
