Elon Musk-Backed Super PAC Steps Into Florida Special Elections

A political action committee (PAC) linked to billionaire Elon Musk is making its presence felt in Florida’s upcoming special congressional elections by throwing its support behind two Republican candidates.

According to a Federal Election Commission (FEC) filing Tuesday, America PAC, which received substantial funding from Musk last year, has spent $20,000 on text messaging outreach in favor of:

  • Jimmy Patronis – Florida’s Chief Financial Officer, running in Florida’s 1st Congressional District.
  • Randy Fine – A state senator seeking election in Florida’s 6th Congressional District.

The move signals Musk’s increasing involvement in GOP politics, as America PAC has also invested millions in other key races, including the Wisconsin Supreme Court election next week.

Republican Strongholds, Yet GOP Concerns

While both Florida districts are historically Republican, with Trump winning FL-01 by 37 points and FL-06 by 30 points in 2020, GOP leaders are expressing concerns about the races.

In the 6th District, Fine has faced fundraising struggles, trailing his Democratic opponent, public school teacher Josh Weil.

“This should be an easy win for Republicans, but the numbers don’t look as strong as they should,” said a GOP strategist familiar with the race.

Meanwhile, in FL-01, Patronis has also been outraised by Democrat Gay Valimont, a gun control activist. While his deficit is less severe than Fine’s, Democrats see an opportunity to make gains.

Trump and Musk Weigh In

In an effort to energize Republican voters, Donald Trump has publicly endorsed both Patronis and Fine. He has also boosted their campaigns on Truth Social, urging his supporters to rally behind them.

“Elon Musk getting involved in these races means we’re seeing major players stepping in,” said Florida-based political analyst Sarah Johnson. “Even though these districts are solidly red, the GOP doesn’t want to take any chances.”

While America PAC’s spending in Florida remains relatively small, its involvement suggests Musk is closely monitoring these elections.

With election day approaching, political observers will be watching to see if Musk’s influence and Trump’s endorsements can help Fine and Patronis overcome their fundraising disadvantages.
