Officer Sicknick Suffered Two Strokes And Died Of Natural Causes

Washington D.C.’s Chief Medical Examiner, Francisco Diaz, says that US Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick suffered strokes and died from natural causes a day after he confronted rioters at the Jan. 6 insurrection.

Officer Sicknick was sprayed with bear spray during the deadly insurrection at the Capitol on Jan. 6.

“The Department continues to mourn the loss of our beloved colleague. The attack on our officers, including Brian, was an attack on our democracy,” Capitol Police said in a statement.

Sicknick and other officers can be seen reacting to being sprayed in the face with a spray in an unreleased video.

“The FBI and Metropolitan Police Department will jointly investigate the case and the Department of Justice will spare no resources in investigating and holding accountable those responsible,” Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen said.

Sicknick’s family released a statement thanking the congress.

“We also wish to express our appreciation to the millions of people who have offered their support and sympathies during this difficult time. Knowing our personal tragedy and loss is shared by our nation brings hope for healing,” the statement said.
