President Joe Biden’s administration has been banned by U.S. District Judge Drew Tipton from enforcing a 100-day moratorium on deportations.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton argued that the moratorium violated federal law and would cost the state of Texas more money.
On his campaign trail, President Biden said he’d enforce a 100-day pause to stop deportation —as well as, stop border wall construction and put an end to the Migrant Protection Protocols. The President is looking to provide citizenship to over 11 million people living in the United States illegally.
“Our state defends the largest section of the southern border in the nation. Failure to properly enforce the law will directly and immediately endanger our citizens and law enforcement personnel,” Paxton said while announcing the lawsuit.
There was no word on whether the Biden Administration would appeal the ruling.
